Need-based Scholarships

We believe that the diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds represented in our school families enrich each member of the larger community. To ensure that our school remains accessible to all families our Board of Trustees has made a commitment to provide need-based financial assistance for qualified applicants. More than a quarter of Kazoo School families receive some level of scholarship. The amounts range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand; the goal is to help families with an economic need.

Kazoo School partners with FAST, a third party provider that performs an objective analysis of a family’s financial needs. We partner with them  to ensure fair and consistent review of each scholarship application, FAST evaluates the family’s assets and liabilities to determine the recommended amount of the scholarship. Information from that assessment is confidential, and shared only with the Business Manager and Head of School. Families who qualify to receive a scholarship need to reapply annually.

The School offers need-based scholarships to families. Please note your interest in applying for a scholarship in the appropriate space on the admissions application. Once you have submitted an admissions application, you may complete an application for Financial Aid here.

The Kazoo School is an independent school that values diversity, inclusion, equity, and cultural awareness as the core of a healthy community. Our support for students and families from all backgrounds is demonstrated through individualized learning, restorative justice, and anti-racist / anti-bias training, as well as in our progressive, integrated curricula.

Kazoo School is committed to a policy of equal opportunity and inclusion in its admissions, hiring, and educational philosophies. Students and families at Kazoo School experience this commitment daily in classrooms and school activities that carry out the principles of diversity, equity, and justice. All learning styles and developmental needs are nurtured and supported, and students are encouraged to be lifelong learners and global citizens. Factors such as gender, race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or fluidity, national or ethnic origin, disability, or other identities protected by law, are not considered in decisions or educational opportunities at Kazoo School.
