Director of Development

The Kazoo School, a Preschool through Eighth Grade independent private school located in the Hillcrest neighborhood of Kalamazoo is accepting resumes from individuals interested in being the school’s Director of Development.

Qualifications:

Reporting to the Head of School The Director will have:  An undergraduate degree, graduate degree preferred • A commitment to the Kazoo School Mission and Philosophy • Prior experience in development • Familiarity with independent schools preferred • Excellent interpersonal skills • Strong organizational skills • The ability to supervise and manage others.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Fundraising:  Design, implement and manage all fundraising activities including: annual giving, Scrip Program, endowment, capital campaign, special projects, grants, planned giving, and other school-related solicitations.

Board of Trustees:  Develop fundraising training for Trustees and other leadership volunteers. • Assume responsibility for all Development reports to the Board and other agencies, and attend Board meetings as needed.

Alumni Relations:  Manage and maintain the alumni database. • Develop an alumni association program as the need becomes appropriate • Organize alumni events, collect news and information about the members of the alumni for publication, and keep accurate records of the school’s alumni.

Parent Relations:  Work with the Parent Association to identify and train a core group of volunteers to serve as leaders. • Support the Parent Association in its work.

Communications:  Design and oversee production of development publications • Develop and implement strategies to promote Kazoo School’s mission to both the internal constituencies of the School and the community at large.

This is a 12-month position beginning August 1, 2010

Substitute Teachers

We are looking for people who are nurturing, energetic, patient, thoughtful, and enjoy working with children. Candidates will have a Bachelors degree; teaching experience is preferred.
