Kazoo School offers children a wide variety of enrichment classes ranging from drama and sports, to Spanish and the arts. We encourage our students to explore new activities, as well as participate in classes that they know they love. We invite children to explore what it’s like to be an actor, to experience being part of a sports team, to speak a new language, or to work with others and develop a new activity based on shared hobbies or interests.
The goals of the Extended Day Program are:
- To provide a safe environment for children to engage in interesting enrichment classes.
- To enhance children’s physical, intellectual, social, emotional and creative development.
- To recognize and encourage individual interest and talents.
Our program uses our three-acre campus and classrooms, including the playground and adjacent 50-acre Kleinstuck Preserve. In addition to our daily enrichment classes, we offer children a designated homework room. The Kazoo School playground includes a large game playing field, playground equipment, sandbox, gaga pit and basketball court. Kleinstuck Preserve offers nature trails for hiking and nature activities.
The Extended Day Program runs from 3:15 – 6:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, on all full days of school.
We never take a vacation from learning, so at Kazoo School we offer programs to enrich the months students spend away from the traditional school schedule. We invite current students, former students, and those children not associated with the Kazoo School who are interested in an exciting summer filled with academic enrichment to join us.
We offer children entering preschool through 8th grade ten weeks of week-long, half-day camps that explore the visual and performing arts, science, sports and our local and world community. For more information please visit our page dedicated to Summer Session.
Vacation Day Program
Kazoo School provides students a variety of enrichment activities from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. during many of the days that our regular school program is not in session. See the Academic Calendar to find out which dates Vacation Days are offered.
The Early Day program is available daily between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. for children in Preschool through Eighth Grade. The program provides morning supervision for children whose family schedule requires an early arrival at school.
The program offers children free play time or a place to read and work on school work.
Middle School Intramural Sports Program
Kazoo Middle School students have an option to sign up for several intramural sports programs through the Extended Day Program. Each program runs for six or seven weeks, once per week, providing an easy option as families manage busy schedules. Sessions are based on student interest. Fees are charged to cover program costs.
