Financial Assistance
We believe the diversity of social, cultural, and economic
backgrounds represented in the Kazoo School community contribute
to understanding the rights and responsibilities of each member
of the larger community. Economic diversity is achieved when
at least 20% of the student population comes from families
earning the median income or less for Kalamazoo County. Generally,
families in this income range will qualify for some level
of financial assistance from Kazoo School.
Financial assistance is determined by application and based
on yearly income. Besides completing the financial assistance
application, parents are required to provide a copy of their
most recent IRS 1040, which documents their adjusted gross
income. In some cases, the IRS 1040 is not available and other
forms of documentation may be acceptable.
Parents who qualify receive financial assistance between
$200-$3,000, and are also eligible to pay a lower sliding
scale Reservation Deposit. The maximum financial assistance
award for one student is
$3,000. For a family with two or more students, the maximum
level of financial assistance is $6,000. Financial
Assistance Applications can be accessed through this website
and are also available in the school office beginning April
15. The deadline for receipt of applications is May 1.
Parents who receive financial assistance are obligated
to participate in Kazoo School's fundraising program. See
the
Support page for more
information.
