PHILOSOPHY
In response to the growing need for after school childcare,
Kazoo School offers a licensed on site childcare program that
provides quality care with creative, stimulating activities.
The after school program (ASP) is designed to enhance self-esteem,
encourage individual talents, seek out personal interests,
and provide opportunities for recreation and creative expression.
GOALS
- To provide quality care for children after the school
day ends.
- To provide childcare at a reasonable cost in a convenient
location.
- To promote school as a safe, secure and stimulating place.
- To enhance children’s physical, intellectual, social,
emotional and creative development.
- To recognize and encourage individual interest and talents.
PROGRAM ENVIRONMENT
ASP is housed in the modular building classrooms, and uses
the Kazoo School Library, playground, and the adjacent 50-acre
Kleinstuck Preserve. The ASP classrooms offer arts and crafts,
dramatic play, board games, construction resources, a reading
area, and a designated homework room. The Kazoo School playground
includes a large game playing field, playground equipment,
sandbox, and basketball court. Kleinstuck Preserve offers
nature trails for hiking and nature activities.
PROGRAM SPECIFICATIONS
ASP is open from 2:55-6:00 PM, Monday-Friday, on all full
days of school. (ASP is generally available with special pre-registration
on half days of school during parent-teacher conferences.)
The students go directly to the ASP facility at dismissal.
A nutritious snack and drink are provided upon arrival.
Children must be pre-registered to participate in ASP. Registration
forms are available at the beginning of each semester, parents
specify both the day of the week and pick-up time for their
student(s).
PROGRAM FEES
ASP charges qualify for the Child Care Tax Credit, and monthly
billing is based on pre-registered times, regardless of absenteeism
or early pick-up time.
